◾ Video Orientation: landscape (horizontal)
◾ Video Format: mpeg-4, mp4 or .mov
◾ Screen Ratio: 16:9
◾ HD or 4K Resolution
◾ Front view -- whole routine within frame
◾ Fixed camera position (tripod)
◾ No video edits, cuts, alteration of speed, special effects, etc.
◾ The venue should have ample natural lighting or be professionally lit for clear and clean visibility of all dancers.
◾ An outdoor location is acceptable provided all guidelines are met and every attempt is made to avoid outside distractions
◾ White or light backgrounds with little or no signage, graphics, artwork, windows or doors are preferable. Backlighting is okay.
◾ Crews should perform choreography downstage whenever possible to provide judges with increased visibility
◾ Megacrews: Ups and downs from the stage/dancefloor should be visible
◾ All venues differ in size, distance and height therefore HHI recommends that the camera lens should be positioned approximately four feet above the dance floor at eye level of the judges (if they were seated in the event venue). The entire width of the dance floor should be in view so that judges can view the crew from side to side and front to back. In other words, the entire routine and all crew members are in the judges’ view.
Please note: A professional camera is not required. Most smart phones have great filming capabilities.
◾ No or little background noise
◾ Music must be heard clearly
◾ The audio levels should be consistent throughout the routine and fed directly to the camera
◾ A copy of your music should also be submitted together with your video
◾ Along with your video and music, your team logo and description should be uploaded.
